The 2021 vintage in Chile received an excellent score of 93 points. The wines from this year are characterized as youthful and still tannic, with excellent potential for slow aging.

Cabernet Franc grapes are grown in the highest part of the vineyards in Pumanque. The rolling slopes enjoy the climate near the Colchagua coast. The vineyard was planted in 2002, and thanks to the daily sea breeze, the grapes appear to thrive here. This provides the necessary cooling, allowing the Cabernet Franc grapes to ripen slowly and retain their fruity characteristics. Santa Rita knows exactly what the grape has to offer and expresses it beautifully in this Floresta wine.

14 months of wood aging for Santa Rita Floresta Cabernet Franc

Santa Rita is one of Chile's premier wineries. Housed in a historic building, the winery was founded in 1880 in Chile's Maipo Valley. They offer a wide variety of wines. Their production ranges from mid-range Medalla Real to their flagship lines, including the excellent Floresta line and the seductive Casa Real Cabernet, expertly crafted by Chilean winemaker Sebastián Labbé and his team, using grapes sourced from across Chile. When the grapes are ripe enough and have developed their beautiful fruity characteristics, they are carefully harvested. In the winery, a strict selection process and careful pressing follow. After temperature-controlled fermentation, this wine is aged for 14 months in second- and third-use French barrels.

What does Santa Rita Floresta Cabernet Franc taste like?

The Floresta Cabernet Franc emerges with a ruby red color. The nose reveals aromas of red fruit, spices, and dried herbs. It's delightfully appealing and entices you to the first sip. These fruity notes are also evident in the palate, with soft tannins and a full-bodied flavor. This all continues into a long, refreshing finish.
