Description
It was, of course, a logical step for Philipponnat Champagne to produce a full-bodied Champagne from the Pinot Noir grape. This type of Champagne is called Blanc de Noirs. All Philipponnat Champagnes are based on Pinot Noir, and the grape always dominates every blend. But let's begin with the rich history, which dates back to 1522. Even then, the family was already actively producing fine wines. It wasn't until 1910, when Auguste and Pierre Philipponnat purchased an eighteenth-century cellar in Mareuil-sur-Ay, that they began producing the finest Champagnes. Today, the house and vineyards are still located in Mareuil-sur-Ay, five kilometers east of Epernay. Significant investment has been made in both the winery and the old vineyards, all of which have been awarded the Grand Cru designation. They have a total of seventeen hectares of their own vineyards, and the rest of the bunches are purchased from farmers with whom the family has long-standing ties. These farmers know exactly what the Philipponnat winemaker wants and grow the grapes in his style. Together we stand strong—that's the motto.
The harvest of the Pinot Noir grapes
Only red Pinot Noir grapes are grown for this white Champagne. A number of unique vineyards are specially selected. No fewer than 25 different crus from the best parts of the Champagne region form the basis for this Blanc de Noirs Brut. All grapes are harvested by hand after a long and balanced growing season. Only the finest bunches are harvested and nourish this top-quality Champagne. Upon arrival, the bunches are pressed immediately, without contact with the skins, preserving the bright color. This Champagne then matures for an impressive three years in the Philipponnat cellars. It develops its soft mousse and powerful aromas and flavors. Did you know that each bottle has a disgorgement date printed on it? That's the date the bottle was removed from the cellar—nice, isn't it!Full and very powerful this Philipponnat Champagne Blanc de Noirs
A Champagne for connoisseurs, this Philipponnat Champagne Blanc de Noirs is so full-bodied and powerful. It begins the moment we open the bottle, revealing hints of toast, roasted nuts, citrus fruit, and a touch of smoke. In the glass, it reveals a beautiful golden yellow with a bright finish. Beautiful, fine bubbles swirl through the glass, giving our senses a wonderful sensation. The full aroma is released in the glass, revealing nuances of peach, citrus fruit, hazelnuts, and a touch of freshly baked bread. The palate is full and complex, with deep, citrus, brioche, and smoky notes—a wonderfully complex aroma.Product details
