Baroness Philippine de Rothschild ended up in Chile, where she saw the country's potential. She bought an impressive plot of land in Maule Valley, and the rest is history.

Baroness Philippine de Rothschild, with her expertise, was able to pinpoint exactly which grapes thrive in each location. She planted several well-known grape varieties. The renowned Merlot also received a prominent spot on the Villacencio estate. The grapes grow under the best conditions: ample sunshine, plenty of ocean freshness, and sufficient shelter from the Andes. This results in the Merlot grapes being deliciously full and juicy.
