Vintage Report
The 2023 vintage in Castilla y León is considered excellent with a score of 91 points according to the Robert Parker index. The wines from this year show great promise and a youthful character with good structure.
The grapes come from old vines, located in the most characteristic part of Rueda, on platforms of quartzite pebbles. Pruned traditionally, these vines yield 4,000 kilos per hectare. Harvesting is done by hand, and the grapes are collected in 20-kilo crates, with an initial selection in the field before being brought to the winery.
The quality of Jose Pariente
The winery is named after José Pariente, a hardworking grape grower and producer from Rueda, whose vines formed the basis for the project launched by his daughter, Maria Victoria (Mariví) Pariente in 1998. José Pariente is now one of the most respected brands in Rueda for its quality and consistency. Rueda is one of the most technologically oriented wineries in Spain. However, hand harvesting is standard for bush vines, and indigenous yeasts are selected from José Pariente's own vineyards as part of a collaborative project with the University of Navarra. Approximately 75 percent of the grapes are cold macerated, and vinification takes place in stainless steel tanks. Verdejo is an indigenous varietal cultivated with dedication and commitment to produce white wines of great elegance, freshness, and complexity.Wood aging for the Jose Pariente Verdejo Fermentado Barrica
Fermentation takes place in new French oak barrels, as well as one-year-old barrels from various coopers. This is followed by approximately seven months of batonnage, during which the wine is in constant contact with the lees. The wine is then decanted into stainless steel tanks, where it ages for five months before being bottled after clarification and stabilization. A complex aroma with spicy, even slightly smoky aromas. Ripe fruit and a hint of wood. You can also smell exotic fruit and minerality. On the palate, this Jose Pariente Verdejo Fermentado Barrica is voluminous, unctuous, and very elegant. Powerful, with good acidity that guarantees a long, excellent balance between fruit and wood. Everything perceived on the nose reappears on the palate.Product details
