Gavi di Gavi is always a party, and this one is full of party animals and bells! The grapes are hand-picked in the beautiful Piedmont wine region. There, the Cortese grapes grow and receive plenty of sunshine, resulting in exceptionally ripe grapes. This special local grape forms the basis for this Gavi di Gavi, and this unique grape variety is not often found elsewhere. These grapes age remarkably well. The combination of their powerful character and lively acidity ensures that the wines have a remarkable shelf life.

The perfect vineyards for Gavi di Gavi

The 250-hectare Fontanafredda estate in Serralunga d'Alba, a Barolo cru site, is the largest contiguous wine estate in the Langhe region, encompassing 247 hectares of vineyards, 30 hectares of woodland, and 10 hectares of cellars and village buildings. The estate's vineyards are located in the municipalities of Serralunga d'Alba, Diano d'Alba, Barolo, Dogliani, Farigliano, Alba, Rodello, and Murinsengo, at altitudes between 200 and 400 meters. Grapes come from sandy vineyards with a high content of crumbly marl, planted at an altitude of 200 to 300 meters above sea level. The vineyards face southeast and southwest, and 4,400 vines per hectare are planted. The grapes are harvested by hand and then undergo a gentle pressing, after which the clear must begins fermentation at a low temperature of 17 degrees Celsius. Eighty-five percent is fermented in stainless steel, the remainder in barriques. The wine is aged for two to three months in stainless steel, then cold-stabilized and bottled.

Enjoy this delicious and dry Gavi di Gavi

This results in a beautiful aroma with an intense bouquet, revealing notes of flowers, vanilla, citrus, lily of the valley, and bitter apple. The flavor of this Fontanafredda is equally superb! Its dry taste is truly delightful, full-bodied, balanced, and elegant, with a fresh acidity on the finish. Excellent as an aperitif and delicious with hors d'oeuvres, shellfish, and chicken dishes.
