The vinification process of Famille Descombe Grenache

In 1905, the Famille Descombe family business was founded in the Beaujolais region. In the 1930s, the second generation decided to expand the estate by purchasing vineyards in the Rhône Valley. Later, vineyards in Alsace, Burgundy, and Bordeaux followed. Today, the estate is owned by the fifth generation. From day one, the focus has been on quality and the family spirit, which must be preserved: a love of wine. The Grenache vines are deeply rooted in clay and limestone soil. This provides ample water reserves, allowing the grapes to ripen well. When the Grenache grapes are fully ripe, they are harvested. Traditional winemaking follows in the Famille Descombe cellars. The grapes are destemmed and gently pressed. After temperature-controlled fermentation, the wine is aged for a further six months in concrete tanks.
