Champagne Boizel Brut Réserve MAGNUM 1.5L is a generous, festive Champagne perfect for dinners, aperitifs, and occasions when you want to serve the same refined house style in a large format. This cuvée is considered Boizel's calling card, combining precision with complexity thanks to 40% reserve wines, 3 years of aging on the lees, and a classic blend of the 3 Champagne grapes. The magnum is officially available as a 1.5-liter bottle within the same Brut Réserve line.
Vineyards and Region
The foundation of this Champagne lies in a broad selection of origins within the appellation, which gives the wine extra balance and complexity.
- Location / Origin: The grapes for Brut Réserve come from approximately 30 different crus in Champagne. This gives Boizel ample scope to precisely balance freshness, structure, and roundness.
- Regional Context: Champagne is a strictly defined appellation in Northern France, comprising hundreds of officially recognized villages and crus. Only wines from this region may bear the name Champagne.
Vinification and Aging
The cellar approach here is entirely about balance, finesse, and a refined mousse.
- Fermentation: Only first-press juice is used for this cuvée. This is the most refined part of the pressing and is well-suited to a Champagne built on precision and elegance.
- Aging / Oak Maturation: 40% of the blend consists of reserve wines from the 2 previous harvests, stored in tanks, of which 4% is aged in foudres. This provides additional depth, roundness, and a broader mid-palate structure.
- Bottle Aging: The wine ages for 3 years on its lees. This refines the mousse and adds length and complexity to the Champagne.
Grape Composition
The blend is classically constructed and clearly demonstrates what Boizel's house style is all about: elegance, structure, and fruit in balance.
- 40% Pinot Noir – Champagne: Pinot Noir gives the wine finesse and supporting structure.
- 35% Chardonnay – Champagne: Chardonnay brings floral elegance and extra precision to the blend.
- 25% Meunier – Champagne: Meunier provides fruit and roundness on the attack.
Tasting Notes and Serving Tips
Clear straw yellow in the glass, with a fine mousse and elegant columns of bubbles. On the nose, this Champagne opens with white blossoms, white peach, apricot, citrus, and a subtle hint of patisserie, followed by a fresh and supple taste of candied pear and acacia honey. The finish remains rich, balanced, and persistent.
- Serving Temperature: 8–10 °C works best here, as this range preserves the freshness and mousse while allowing enough room for its breadth and complexity.
- Food Pairings: Seafood and grilled fish pair beautifully with this Champagne, while it also shines as a generous aperitif.
Accolades
- 4.0 stars, Vivino: With over 5200 reviews, this Champagne consistently proves popular with a wide audience.
