A unique microclimate for Argentiera

Tenuta Argentiera stands on a beautiful plot of land in the Maremma, combining countryside and sea, nestled among forests and Mediterranean scrub. Here, you'll find yourself in the heart of the small but prestigious DOC Bolgheri, a terroir dedicated to superb red wines and synonymous with the famous "Super Tuscans." The name Argentiera has a significant meaning: it comes from the silver ("argento") mines that once dotted the hills of this elevated area of the Maremma, a place rich in natural springs and healing waters. The estate is the closest winery to the Tyrrhenian coast and also boasts the highest elevation in the entire Bolgheri region, at 200 meters above sea level. This distinction makes it stand out among other estates and allows it to enjoy a microclimate with unique characteristics.

The vinification of Argentiera Poggio ai Ginepri Bolgheri

After de-stemming and gentle pressing, each varietal is produced separately. Fermentation and maceration take place in stainless steel tanks for approximately 15-20 days at a controlled temperature, never exceeding 28 degrees Celsius. Half of the wine is then placed in 225-liter barrels made of used French and Hungarian oak, where malolactic fermentation takes place. The other half of the wine is aged in stainless steel tanks. The final blend is then made, and the wine is bottled. This Poggio ai Ginepri Bolgheri has a dark purple-red color. A fine and elegant nose of red fruit, a touch of plum, and a hint of spice. The wine is soft, round, and full-bodied with a pleasant, elegant finish and sufficient length.
