The wines of Markus Molitor

Markus Molitor Winery is a winery that has been in existence for no fewer than eight generations. They possess a wealth of expertise. The current owner, coincidentally named Markus Molitor, took over from his father in 1984. He was only twenty years old at the time. In less than forty years, he has built Markus Molitor Winery into an authority on Riesling. A remarkable 94 percent of all grapevines now belong to the incredibly beloved Riesling. For this Markus Molitor Riesling Urziger Würzgarten Kabinett, the grapes are sourced from the impressive Urziger Würzgarten vineyard, which produces exceptional wines thanks to its unique terroir. Situated on a steep slope, the vineyard is divided into three levels. The grapes for this white wine grow on the lowest level, the Fruchtsuss. These grapes yield the most fruit and give the wine a slightly sweet touch. However, this is a Kabinett wine, meaning the grapes are harvested early and not yet as sweet. This makes this wine considerably drier than its younger sibling, the Markus Molitor Riesling Urziger Würzgarten Spatlese.

This drier character also adds complexity. Even a touch more exciting. Our wine experts discovered a distinct herbal note. A hint of anise will also be discernible to seasoned drinkers. Furthermore, a vibrant feast unfolds on the palate, with pronounced aromas of fresh pear, honey, apricot, and citrus. Even a hint of strawberry is a must.
