Vintage Report

The 2022 vintage for Mosel white wines is characterized by excellent ratings of up to 96 points. However, the quality is described as inconsistent, even among the region's best producers.

This slightly sweet wine is among the finest Mosel wines from Germany. This Riesling Feinherb has lovely fruity aromas and a juicy flavor. The Mosel, along with the Saar-Ruwer Valley, are the largest and most important growing regions for the Riesling grape. The soil in both valleys consists of slate, providing a good foundation for the grape's characteristics. Combined with the excellent climate in this region, these wines are produced in exquisite quality.

The high quality of Markus Molitor

The Riesling Haus Klosterberg (dry and semi-dry) bears the name of the local mountain, which is both home to the winery and Markus Molitor's private residence. The winery is known for producing a very distinctive style of Mosel Riesling. Markus Molitor took over the winery from his father in 1984 and is located in the center of Wehlener Klosterberg. It is also called Haus Klosterberg, as they consider it Markus Molitor's "house wine." Markus Molitor is a true pioneer in the Mosel region. He has ensured that Riesling has developed a variety of facets; besides the standard, easy-to-make wines, they can also display depth and complexity. This is primarily due to the location of the grapes. Several Riesling varieties are produced at the Klosterberg vineyard, even though the exact same grape grows on the entire slope. The grapes for Markus Molitor Haus Klosterberg Riesling are grown in the middle of the slope, where the natural conditions give them a slightly sweet character. This is also known as "feinherb." All Markus Molitor feinherb wines are also recognizable by the green capsule on the bottle.

Enjoy this Haus Klosterberg Riesling Feinherb

The grapes are not harvested until October, allowing them to accumulate a high level of juice. The slow, cool fermentation emphasizes the wine's freshness. Nevertheless, Markus Molitor Haus Klosterberg Riesling boasts a vast fruit bouquet of ripe apple, grapefruit, and soft apricots. A very refined sweetness (it's definitely not overly sweet!) accentuates the complexity of this Markus Molitor wine.
