The Chardonnay grapes enjoy a perfect climate, with abundant sunshine in the morning and afternoon, combined with the fresh mountain breeze, for a powerful vigour. The old, thick stems rest in a subsoil of clay, gravel, and rock, allowing the vines to draw considerable strength from the soil. A large portion of the bunches is pruned early in the season, resulting in exceptionally full, ripening bunches. At ideal ripeness, the winemaker at Les Vignes has the bunches harvested early in the morning. The juice is then enriched with a tiny bit of Viognier to add a touch of freshness. This beautiful marriage is then aged in oak for four to five months. And yes, that makes it incredibly full and creamy!
As soon as we pop the cork, we immediately smell ripe apricots and peaches combined with hazelnut and vanilla. In the glass, it erupts a beautiful golden yellow, stimulating all our senses. With our noses over the glass, we're treated to abundant yellow fruit, accompanied by vanilla, roasted nuts, and a touch of vanilla. On the palate, the palate is treated to a full and creamy sensation. Beautiful deep flavors of apricot, mango, vanilla, oak, and butter. The powerful attack on the palate reveals fresh hazelnuts and a touch of spice. The finish is creamy and full, as we expect from an oak-aged Chardonnay. This Les Vignes Chardonnay is so popular, and we're thrilled to be able to sell it.
