The origin, grapes and craftsmanship behind this wine.

Aldeneyck Chardonnay Heerenlaak Maasvallei is a Belgian Chardonnay with a remarkably serious Burgundian flair. The vineyard is situated on the banks of the Meuse near the Heerenlaak marina, where the pebble and gravel terroir provides fresh tension and a refined structure. Through fermentation in stainless steel, followed by 5 months of sur lie aging in French Chassin oak barriques, this white wine gains both ripe fruit, creamy depth, and subtly integrated wood.

This Chardonnay comes from the Belgian Maasvallei Limburg, a protected designation of origin surrounding the Meuse river.

Location / Origin: The vineyard is located on the bank of the Meuse, close to the Heerenlaak marina. This specific location gives the wine its direct link to the river landscape of the Maasvallei.

Soil: The terroir consists of mineral-rich pebble and gravel. This soil warms up well, drains quickly, and helps the Chardonnay achieve ripeness without losing its fresh tension.

Climate & Influences: The Maasvallei has a cool climate in which Chardonnay can ripen slowly. This is important for the balance between ripe fruit, razor-sharp acidity, and a long finish.

Vineyard & Harvest: The grapes are harvested by hand, ensuring careful selection before the wine enters the cellar.

The vinification combines fresh precision with classic oak aging.

Harvest & Selection: After manual harvesting, the grapes are gently pressed using a pneumatic press. This careful pressing helps obtain pure juice without harsh extraction.

Fermentation: Fermentation takes place in stainless steel vats. This preserves the fresh fruit expression and creates a clear base before the wine undergoes further aging in oak.

Aging / Oak treatment: The wine ages for 5 months sur lie in French Chassin oak barriques, 25% of which are new and the rest 1 to 4 years old. What is sur lie? Sur lie means that the wine remains resting on the fine yeast cells, which provides extra creaminess, texture, and length.

Alcohol percentage: With 13% alcohol, this Chardonnay has enough power to support the oak aging, while the 6.4 g/l acidity keeps the wine fresh and taut.

This white wine is made entirely from Chardonnay.

Chardonnay – Maasvallei Limburg: Chardonnay gives this wine its ripe fruit, white peach, floral notes, and rounded structure. Combined with sur lie aging and French oak barriques, the grape achieves a full, refined, and gastronomic style here.
