Moldovan wines are a true treasure trove, especially this top-notch wine from Chateau Purcari, made from Traminer. A noble grape that has been planted in southern Moldova since 1934. Chateau Purcari is located in the southern part of Moldova, near the tri-border area where Moldova, Ukraine, and Transnistria meet. While the latter doesn't officially exist, it's still considered a country by the locals. The winery is located in the eponymous village of Purcari. This village is a true gem, with beautiful surroundings and stunning vineyards. In recent years, significant investment has been made in the vineyards and a modern winery, resulting in a huge leap in quality. This hasn't gone unnoticed by the international wine press, which also boasts promising results.

The best white wine from Chateau Purcari

Traminer has been cultivated in the southern part of Moldova for centuries, making it the oldest variety. The old, thick vines produce truly exquisite grapes, and Château Purcari is proud of them. In 1827, Emperor Nicholas I of Russia granted the winery the status of Bessarabia's first specialized winery. This achievement brought great success to this beautiful Moldovan winery. This unique wine has become a true star, receiving numerous international wine awards, and we understand why. The climate in which Traminer grows is perfect, even considered exceptional. The excellent sunshine, cool breezes, and rich soil make for a truly unique harvest.

Full and very powerful this Purcari 1827 Traminer

All grapes are harvested by hand to select only the finest bunches. The aroma is very rich and deeply profound; we noted notes of yellow and citrus fruit, a touch of jasmine, and some green herbs. A vigorous swirl of the glass reveals even more aromas, such as grapefruit, lime, and a hint of gooseberry. The palate is smooth and round, extremely soft with fresh citrus notes. The aromatic flavor offers hints of peach, gooseberry, and grapefruit, all perfectly balanced. With its long and balanced finish, it's a gem from Moldova.
