Wine is produced with great success throughout Italy. From north to south and from east to west. Wine runs like blood through Italy's veins. An absolute wine country par excellence. But don't forget: Italy also boasts two enormous islands. Many know that Sicily has been producing successful wines for centuries. However, Sardinia is somewhat less well-known as a wine region. This is entirely undeserved, as Sardinia produces wines that are at least as beautiful as Sicily, each with its own distinct flavor and identity.

With this vision in mind, The Santadi Winery was founded in 1960. It's a group of grape growers who joined forces under one umbrella. By collaborating on viticulture, marketing, and export, Santadi managed to become a top winery.

The Sardinian wines of Santadi

Santadi is located in the eponymous village of Santadi, situated in the far southwest of the island, about an hour from the capital, Cagliari. Santadi's vineyards encompass an impressive 600 hectares, spread across numerous wineries. The intensive collaboration at Santadi is unparalleled. Thanks to a dedicated team of winemakers and grape growers, Santadi wines are bursting with quality.

Italian wine from Santadi

Santadi's vineyards cultivate many local grape varieties. The Cannonau and Vermentino are the grapes for which Sardinian wines are renowned. Both varieties perfectly embody Sardinian character. Not everyone's cup of tea, they are distinct in aroma and flavor. However, Carignano is also planted in small numbers in the vineyards. This grape, the Sardinian equivalent of the French Carignan, produces robust and powerful wines thanks to the warm climate. This grape forms the basis for two popular Santadi wines: Santadi Grotta Rossa and Santadi Rocca Rubia Riserva.

What is the most beautiful wine from Santadi?

Santadi's range offers something for every wine drinker. Do you prefer freshness and minerality? Then the Santadi Villa Solais Vermentino is highly recommended. For those who appreciate robustness and power, the Santadi Noras Cannonau di Sardegna is the perfect choice. Santadi's flagship wine is undoubtedly the Santadi Terre Brune Superiore. This Sardinian wine combines the local Bovaleddu and Carignano grapes to create a beautiful red. Highly recommended.
