Vintage Report

The 2020 vintage for white Burgundy is considered exceptional with a score of 97. The wines are early maturing and therefore already very approachable.
The founding of this cooperative winery dates back to the 1920s to address the economic difficulties faced by individual winegrowers. As the name suggests, this fine winery is rooted in the heart of the Chablis vineyard in Burgundy. The wines have a distinct terroir identity with a very pronounced minerality.

The vineyards of La Chablisienne

Twenty years later, the estate expanded through a merger with another cooperative from Chablis. It is now a winery with 300 members and a total of 1,130 hectares of vineyards, including 30 premier cru and 6 grand cru vineyards. The quality of the wines is consistently high. The Chablis region is known for its dry white wines made from Chardonnay. This Chablis le Finage is no exception. It is fresh and elegant. The Chablis region is the northernmost of Burgundy, bordering the Champagne region. The soil consists of a unique limestone, formed from fossils and shellfish. This gives the wines a mineral, almost saline character.

A very elegant Chablis wine from La Chablisienne

The grapes for this Chablis 1 ER Montmains are planted on the left bank of the Serein River in the village of Chablis. The soil types are alternating between Kimmeridian and fossil-rich marl. The average age of the vines is 25 years. The grapes are carefully harvested, after which fermentation and malolactic fermentation take place in both stainless steel tanks and oak barrels. The wine is then aged for a period on its fine yeast spores. A Chablis with depth. Straw yellow and sparkling in appearance. The aroma is dominated by floral notes such as acacia, complemented by hints of oriental spices and fresh citrus. The palate is rich and intense, yet remains elegant thanks to the minerals and crisp acidity. A refined, high-quality wine with tremendous length.
