Buy or order Gaja wine

Angelo Gaja (born 1940) is a household name in the wine world. His insights have been invaluable to Italy as a wine country, and to Piedmont in particular. His arrival in the family business in 1961, after internships in France and California, marked the beginning of a remarkable series of innovations. Gaja rigorously limited harvest yields, introduced the use of barriques, and planted grape varieties "foreign" to the region. In 1996, Gaja expanded to Tuscany, where he acquired the Ca'Marcanda winery. Here too, he worked with boundless energy on wines that are unparalleled in Italy. Gaja's daughters, Gaia and Rosanna, now also play an increasingly important role in the company.
