The quality is astonishing. Only 8,000 bottles of this Cotes du Rhone blanc Domaine de la Janasse are produced. It's an entry-level, high-quality wine. The blend consists of 50 percent Grenache, 15 percent Clairette, 15 percent Bourboulenc, 10 percent Viognier, and 10 percent Roussanne. It is produced by Domaine de la Janesse and belongs to the AOC Côtes du Rhône.

The growth of the Domaine de la Janasse winery

Domaine de la Janesse is a young family-run winery in the Côtes du Rhône. Founded in 1973, it has grown enormously since then: it began with 15 hectares of vineyards and now has approximately 90. The grapes for Domaine de La Janesse Côtes du Rhône Blanc come from several plots of sandy soil. A total of 5 hectares are cultivated without the use of pesticides, herbicides, or insecticides. The land is fertilized with naturally occurring fertilizers and is weed-free, which maintains soil aeration and prevents compaction. This Cotes du Rhône Blanc is made using the traditional method. All the vineyards in the winery are harvested by hand to preserve the grape's integrity as much as possible. Once in the winery, the Domaine de La Janasse Côtes du Rhône Blanc grape is pressed in a pneumatic press, and the must from each plot is tanked separately. The must is then cleaned and vinified in barrels. Once the wine is finally made, it is aged on its lees for six months, also in barrels.
