Château d’Astros Amour Rosé 2024 Magnum 3.0L Côtes de Provence, France
Château d’Astros Amour Rosé 2024 Double Magnum 3.0L is the signature rosé of Château d’Astros in a festive large format. This Côtes de Provence rosé is made from Grenache, Cinsault, and Tibouren, combining the elegant freshness of Provence with more volume, structure, and gastronomic depth than a light terrace rosé.
Vineyards and region
Château d’Astros is located in the Var, in the heart of Provence.
Location / Origin: The wine comes from AOP Côtes de Provence, an appellation globally renowned for dry, light, and refined rosé with Mediterranean fruit expression.
Vineyard Area: The estate is situated within a 600-hectare nature reserve, of which 80 hectares are planted with vines. This combination of vineyard, nature, and biodiversity plays an important role in the style of Château d’Astros.
Soil: Château d’Astros works with 2 important soil types. Alluvial soils along the Argens river produce light, fruity, and fresh wines, while drier clay-limestone soils provide aromatic concentration and extra depth.
Climate & Influences: The 2024 vintage started challenging with a wet winter and spring frost, followed by a milder summer without prolonged extreme heat. This allowed the grapes to ripen while retaining freshness and aromatic precision.
Vineyard & Harvest: The 2024 harvest ran from August 22nd to September 28th. Due to lower yields, careful work was done per plot to maintain the right ripeness and balance.
Vinification and aging
Amour Rosé is crafted as a refined and structured Provence rosé for both aperitif and dinner.
Vinification Style: The style revolves around elegance, fruit purity, and a silky-smooth texture. The fresh citrus line keeps the wine vibrant, while ripe fruit and subtle spice provide extra depth.
Magnum Format: A double magnum of 3.0L typically develops more slowly than a standard bottle. This allows the wine to remain fresh longer, and the balance between fruit, structure, and spice is showcased beautifully during a dinner or festive occasion.
Grape composition
The blend combines Provencal roundness, freshness, and spicy refinement.
Grenache – Côtes de Provence: Grenache gives this rosé its ripe fruit, soft roundness, and Mediterranean suppleness.
Cinsault – Côtes de Provence: Cinsault brings lightness, freshness, and refined fruit expression to the blend.
Tibouren – Côtes de Provence: Tibouren is a characteristic Provencal grape variety that adds spice, finesse, and extra regional character.
Tasting notes and serving tips
Light salmon pink in the glass, with aromas of white blossoms, red fruit, grapefruit, peach, and a subtle spicy note. The taste is round, creamy, and fresh, with a broad structure and a long, elegant finish. Thanks to the double magnum format, this is a wonderful rosé for long lunches, garden dinners, and moments when one bottle just isn't enough.
Serving Temperature: Serve at 8–10 °C, so that the freshness, soft fruit, and refined spiciness remain beautifully crisp.
Dishes: Excellent with grilled fish, shellfish, tuna tataki, Provençal chicken, salads with grilled vegetables, burrata, light pasta, or Mediterranean dishes with fresh herbs.
Awards
89 points, Wine Enthusiast (2024): Cody Wexler describes this rosé as inviting, with ripe peach, wet stone, and a refreshing, immediately drinkable style.
