Vintage Report
The 2021 vintage for Argentina achieved an excellent score of 92 points from Robert Parker. However, it is considered an inconsistent vintage, even for the best wines.
The Alpasión Grand Malbec is the flagship wine from the Alpasión winery in Mendoza, Argentina. It's a prime example of what the region has to offer in Malbec wines. This wine, which represents the majority of their production, demonstrates why people love Malbec so much. It's a tribute to the intense and powerful flavors that make this grape so beloved.
Manual harvest for Alpasion Grand Malbec
Alpasión's Malbec vines grow at an altitude of 1,200 meters above sea level in the Uco Valley. They thrive in the sandy loam and stony soils typical of the area. With eight-year-old vines and a high density of 6,250 plants per hectare, Alpasión ensures that the unique characteristics of the soil are fully expressed in the wine. They carefully manage their vineyards, using precise pruning and thinning techniques, to ensure that each grape reaches its full potential. This results in a wine with a rich, complex flavor. At Alpasión, they make the Alpasión Grand Malbec using traditional methods. The grapes are hand-picked and sorted. They ferment in stainless steel tanks with natural yeasts and remain there for approximately 15 days, giving the wine rich color and tannins. The wine then undergoes natural malolactic fermentation and is unfiltered before bottling. This emphasizes the wine's authenticity and purity. The wine is then aged for 12 months in new French oak barrels, making it even more powerful and elegant. The complexity of Alpasion Grand Malbec
When you look at the Alpasion Grand Malbec in the glass, you're immediately struck by its deep, almost opaque purple color, resembling ink. It even has a neon magenta glow around the edges. This red wine is rich and full-bodied, with an abundance of juicy, ripe blue and black fruits. After 12 months of aging in French oak barrels, subtle notes of toasted oak and cocoa powder also emerge, adding another layer of complexity and refinement to the wine.Product details
