The origin, grapes and craftsmanship behind this wine.

San Giovanni Orvieto Castello della Sala is a beautiful wine produced by the renowned Castello della Sala winery, nestled in the enchanting landscape of Umbria, Italy. This historic winery has a rich tradition of producing quality wines and is known for its craftsmanship and dedication to excellence.

The vineyards are scattered around the Castello della Sala castle in the heart of Umbria. With its stunning hilltop location, the grapes thrive in a unique terroir with rich limestone and shell-clay soils, resulting in top-quality wines. This elegant white wine from Italy is made from Greco Bianco, Pinot Blanc, Trebbiano, and Viognier grape varieties. The grapes grow under optimal conditions in Umbria, where the vines dig their roots deep into soils of sand, limestone, and marl. The San Giovanni della Sala Orvieto Classico Superiore is an Old World wine in the truest sense of the word, as this Italian exudes an extraordinary European charm that clearly underscores the success of Old World wines. The grapes are harvested exclusively by hand and then taken directly to the winery. Here, they are selected and carefully separated. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures. Fermentation is followed by several months of aging on the fine lees before the wine is finally aged.

Upon pouring, the bright, straw-yellow color immediately catches the eye, reflecting the wine's freshness and vibrancy. The aroma is complex and enticing, with a captivating blend of fruity and floral notes. The nose is greeted by aromas of ripe peach, juicy pear, citrus blossom, and hints of white flowers, creating a refined and harmonious fragrance. At the first sip, San Giovanni Orvieto Castello della Sala reveals its layered and balanced flavor profile. The mouthfeel is full and rounded, with a vibrant acidity that maintains freshness. The palate is captivated by a combination of ripe fruit, including peach, apple, and pear, which blend perfectly with refreshing citrus notes of lemon and grapefruit. Subtle spicy notes and a hint of almond also enhance the wine's complexity.
