With this Chardonnay, Bogle has built a recognizable Californian style in which ripe fruit, American oak, and a creamy texture come together beautifully. Green apple and juicy pear are layered with vanilla, warm spices, and butter, while sufficient crisp acidity ensures the richness never loses its energy.
The wine carries the broad California appellation, with Bogle’s home base in Clarksburg as a key element of its recognizable house style.
-
Location / Origin: Bogle is based in Clarksburg, in the Sacramento Delta, and also works with selected vineyards from various parts of California. Every batch of grapes is evaluated and vinified separately before the final blend is composed.
-
Soil: The Clarksburg area is dominated by deep clay soils that retain moisture well during the warm Californian summer. This helps the vines to ripen their fruit gradually.
-
Climate & Influences: Cooling breezes from the Sacramento River and through the Delta temper the warm days. That combination supports ripe Chardonnay while maintaining sufficient natural freshness.
-
Vineyard Selection: Bogle evaluates every individual vineyard plot for quality. That selection makes it possible to maintain the house's ripe, soft Chardonnay style every year.
The combination of stainless steel and new American oak forms the core of Bogle’s recognizable Chardonnay style.
-
Fermentation: 50% of the wine is fermented in stainless steel tanks to keep apple, pear, and crisp acidity clear. The other half is fermented in new American oak and undergoes malolactic conversion, which provides extra roundness, butteriness, and soft spices.
-
Aging / Oak treatment: The barrel-fermented Chardonnay is aged for 8 months sur lie, with the fine lees stirred monthly via bâtonnage. This creates a full, silky texture, while the American oak adds nuances of vanilla, toast, and warm spices.
-
Blending: The fresh stainless steel batch and the richer barrel-aged component are brought together before bottling. This creates the signature balance between juicy fruit, creaminess, and oak.
The wine is made entirely from the grape that has held a central place at Bogle for years.
-
100% Chardonnay – California: Chardonnay has enough fruit, body, and acidity to handle both steel fermentation and aging in new oak. At Bogle, this results in a full-bodied style in which fresh apple and pear fruit seamlessly blend with creamy and spicy notes.
