This beautiful Santiago Ruiz winery is located in the O Rosal wine region, specifically in Tomiño. Its beauty and strength are due to the fact that the LAN winery owns Santiago Ruiz. We've known Bodegas LAN for years and are familiar with the top quality from the winery, but they still managed to surprise us with this Rías Baixas. The Miño River separates the wine region from Portugal, and the river plays a significant role in the grapes' development. The fresh breeze that constantly blows through the vineyards gives us a very rich and refreshing feeling. Santiago Ruiz has 38 hectares of vineyards spread across the Rías Baixas wine region. They know how to handle a cool climate like no other and planted the vineyards in the perfect locations decades ago.

Several grape varieties are grown for this top-quality wine, namely the Albariño grape, which plays the leading role, along with a touch of Loureiro, Treixadura, Godello, and Caiño Blanco. This unique blend sets this white wine apart from its competitors. The vineyards are situated at an altitude of 75 meters above sea level, enjoying abundant sunshine and, of course, plenty of coolness. The harvest is very consistent, allowing the grapes to fully utilize the rich soil structure. When the grapes are ripe, they are harvested by hand, and only the finest bunches are pressed. All the grapes are transported separately to Santiago Ruiz and vinified. The winemaker then blends the grape varieties, creating the unique style of Rías Baixas. Winemaker Luisa Freire is proud of her wine: full-bodied and highly aromatic.

The label features a drawing of the grape growing area, providing the drinker with more information and the rich history of Rías Baixas. In the glass, it gleams a beautiful bright yellow with a green shimmer. It bursts from the glass, offering aromas of green apple, apricot, citrus, and a touch of anise and minerality. We were instantly smitten, and the love never left us after drinking this Santiago Ruiz from the Rías Baixas wine region. So much love in a bottle of wine, yes, it's possible. The palate is teased by a delicate bouquet of white and citrus fruit, interspersed with light green herbs. After a while, the wine also reveals nuances of apricot, lime, and a touch of green pepper. The finish is perfect, wonderfully fresh with an exceptionally clean aftertaste.
