The Gras Chardonnay

One of the showpieces of the De Gras Estate series is this De Gras Estate Chardonnay. The founders of the Montgras winery, the Gras brothers, are also very enthusiastic about this pleasant estate wine. This is precisely what Hernán and Eduardo Gras envisioned with the winery they founded in 1993. Hernán was very familiar with making fine wines, and Eduardo was very commercially and entrepreneurially oriented. They proved to be a golden duo! The wines are now known and loved worldwide. And that's no wonder, because year after year, the wines are truly perfect!

The harvest of the Chilean Chardonnay

The Chardonnay grapes for this Chilean white wine grow in the Colchagua Valley, where most of the winery's grapes are planted. This valley is the ideal location for grape cultivation. The sunshine is long and the nights refreshing. This, combined with the natural protection of the Anders Mountains, allows the grapes to ripen carefree. At perfect ripeness, the winemaker signals the grapes can be harvested manually. This harvest takes place early in the morning so the grapes are still "sleeping." This allows the grapes to retain a lovely freshness and the skins are less vulnerable. The grapes are then transported to the press in small crates. After pressing, this De Gras Estate Chardonnay is not aged in oak. The Gras brothers deliberately chose this to create a full-bodied yet refreshing Chardonnay wine. And they succeeded.

The aroma and taste of De Gras Chardonnay

Upon pouring, we immediately notice the beautiful straw-yellow Chardonnay color. The nose reveals rich aromas of tropical fruits like mango and melon. A hint of yellow cream and citrus at the back pleasantly balances the aroma. The palate of this Chilean Chardonnay is thick and full, yet with a refreshing touch. Delicious flavor nuances of tropical fruit, with mango and pineapple taking center stage. These are interspersed with an undertone of yellow cream and, at the end, a refreshing hint of citrus. The finish is full, long, and silky smooth!
