Is Merlot a boring grape? Corette Winery proves the opposite with this Merlot wine. The winery has invested heavily in its vineyards, located in the Languedoc-Roussillon, demonstrating that Merlot is indeed capable of creating opulent wines. This is largely due to the craftsmanship and experience of Corette's founders, Catherine and Laurent Delaunay. After making waves in Burgundy and the beautiful Cotes du Rhône, they decided it was time for a new challenge. For some time now, they have been demonstrating their true winemaking talent in the finest vineyards of Languedoc-Roussillon.

A wood-aged red wine from Corette

Corette has planted eight different grape varieties in its vineyards in the Languedoc-Roussillon region. Not entirely unrelated, they also produce eight different wines. A different grape takes center stage in each Corette wine. Corette does this to highlight the quality of each grape; they demonstrate that the grapes are of the highest quality. In this red wine, Merlot takes center stage. The winemakers use classic vinification to allow the Merlot's power to shine. Then, a portion of the juice is aged for 6 to 9 months in oak barrels. All to demonstrate that Merlot is certainly not the best kid in the class.

This red wine from Corette is praised by our oenologists for its soft character, its surprisingly intense bouquet, and also because Corette Merlot is truly an everyday wine. Delicious with a piece of meat but also superb as an aperitif. Both the aroma and the palate reveal refined blackberry and cassis fruit. Thanks to the oak aging of this wine, Corette Merlot also has notes of cinnamon and thyme in the finish.
