Cabernet Sauvignon vines have been planted in the Valle del Loncomilla for a very long time. This is one of the oldest estates owned by the del Pedragal family. The grapes benefit from the cooling breeze from the Atlantic Ocean and, thanks to the clayey soil, develop unique characteristics. This red wine has intense fruity aromas and balanced yet ripe tannins.

The wide range of Carta Vieja

Carta Vieja is located about 300 kilometers south of Santiago de Chile in the heart of the Maule region. It is owned by the Del Pedregal family in the seventh generation and is one of the oldest in Chile. The vineyards cover 550 hectares in the Valle del Maule, where they plant a wide variety of grape varieties. Within the range, there are three distinct lines: the Varietals, which includes this Cabernet Sauvignon, Reserva, and Gran Reserva. Millions of bottles are produced annually for us to enjoy worldwide. The Cabernet Sauvignon grapes are harvested in early April. They are then taken directly to the winery for a rigorous selection process. Only the very best are good enough. This is followed by a three-day cold maceration. Fermentation follows at a temperature between 20 and 25 degrees Celsius, with pumping over every three days. The wine remains in contact with the skins for a total of 15 days, giving this Cabernet Sauvignon its beautiful, attractive red color.

A balanced Cabernet Sauvignon

The Carta Vieja Cabernet Sauvignon has beautiful purplish hues in the glass. It's an attractive red wine with great fruit intensity. On the nose, we detect blackberries, plums, and cherries intertwined with sweet notes of chocolate and mocha. The wine is balanced on the palate with a velvety texture. Ripe tannins, beautifully balanced and structured, give this wine a wonderfully lingering finish.
