Vintage Report
According to the Robert Parker Vintage Chart, 2019 is an excellent vintage for Tuscany, awarded scores between 92 and 95 points. The wines from this year are of outstanding quality and have excellent aging potential, although they are still youthful at present.
One of the top wines from the Barone Ricasoli winery is this Casalferro Brolio. Ready to drink now, but also able to age for at least another ten years. That partly explains the quality of this magnificent wine!
The old vineyard of Casalferro Brolio
In 1141, Brolio Castle came into the hands of the Ricasoli family, whose descendant, Baron Bettino Ricasoli, developed the formula for their famous Chianti in 1872. Today, Barone Ricasoli is the largest winery in the Chianti Classico area. Located in the municipalities of Gaiole and Castelnuovo Berardenga, it is surrounded by 1,200 hectares of valleys, hills, oak and chestnut forests, 235 hectares of vineyards, and 26 hectares of olive groves, all bathed in the changing weather and beauty of this central Chianti region. Francesco Ricasoli, Bettino's great-grandson and 32nd Baron, has been at the helm of the family business since 1993, renewing the quality and personality that made Brolio wines famous by making the most of the land's unique history. With many award-winning wines renowned worldwide, Barone Ricasoli's research and exploration continues, as new labels are constantly developed that reinvent both the culture of winemaking and the art of drinking. The Casalferro is a special selection of the finest Merlot grapes from the vineyards directly surrounding the château. Only the very best grapes from vineyards with very low yields are used for this wine. The wine is aged for 18 to 21 months in new French oak barriques. The smell and taste of the Barone Ricasoli Casalferro Brolio
The aroma reveals abundant black fruit notes of cherries, blackberries, and berries. There are also hints of toasted oak, tobacco, and chocolate. Casalferro Brolio Barone Ricasoli also offers a wide range of flavors thanks to the oak aging. Beautiful tannins, vanilla, and black fruit round it all off! The sultry, soft finish is characteristic of this wine!Product details
