Vintage Report

The 2023 vintage for red wines from the Loire Valley is exceptionally good, receiving an impressive score of 98 points. This indicates an extraordinary and memorable top vintage for this region.
Marc Brédif is a beautiful winery carved into the slopes and founded in 1893 under the name Château Les Roches. However, in 1919, Marc Brédif inherited it from his uncle and renamed it his own. It is currently owned by Baron Patrick Ladoucette, who purchased it in 1980. Ladoucette owns several different wineries, all of which strive for exceptional standards in their wines.

The high quality of the Marc Bredif winery

Despite the company's size, quality is paramount to the owners, as anyone who tastes and enjoys the wines can see and appreciate. The estate has a long and colorful history, having been founded in 1893 under its original name, Château Les Roches. The wines are made in the state-of-the-art winery within the monumental Château du Nozet and are considered some of the finest examples of their kind. The grapes for Marc Brédif Chinon are grown in the northern part of the Chinon region, in Savigny-en-Véron. Marc Brédif Chinon's vineyards are primarily located on gravel soils. The grapes are destemmed and barreled, then fermented for 15 days on the skins and pumped twice a day to extract color and aromas. The wine is transferred to tanks for malolactic fermentation and aged for 12 months in French oak barrels.

The result of 12 months of wood aging

The Marc Bredif Chinon has a beautiful deep red color. It has a sweet fruit aroma with hints of jam and cedar. Its delicate, elegant flavor transitions into smooth, harmonious tones, with fruity notes and soft tannins, followed by a lovely, ripe finish. This is a very flavorful red Loire wine, perfect as a dinner wine. Serve it with braised or lightly roasted beef, spiced lamb, game birds such as pheasant and duck breast, roast suckling pig, stew, chicken in red wine sauce with mushrooms, and various cheeses.
