Vintage Report
The 2023 vintage in South Africa received an excellent score of 90 points in the Robert Parker vintage chart. The wines are characterized as youthful and still tannic, indicating a potential to develop further over time.
A balanced blend of two great South African wines: Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. The grapes grow on the slopes of the Bottelary Hills, where the climatic conditions are at their best. After harvest, the secret of this Klein Friesland Merlot Cabernet lies in its oak aging for a full ten months. So, not a soft, easy-drinking wine, but a powerful specimen where coffee, plump plums, and spices complement each other to create a near-perfect wine.
Klein Friesland wines from South Africa
Although South Africa is considered a part of the new world of wine, this is almost unjustified, as South Africa has a wine culture that dates back several centuries. It's only in the last forty years that South Africa has truly excelled in high-quality wines, with which it has dominated many wine competitions. The wines of Klein Friesland play a significant role in this. Crafted by a family of Dutch origin, you can taste Dutch craftsmanship in every sip of Klein Friesland, combined with the quality that South African wines offer today.Buy Klein Friesland wine
The story of Klein Friesland dates back to the early 1600s. The Steenkamp family left Friesland and decided to settle in Stellenbosch. They had long owned an estate called Groenland, where the last four generations also successfully produced wine. In the 1990s, a plot of land south of the current Steenkamp winery came up for sale. Coincidentally, the name of this estate was Friesland, and everything fell into place. The wines of Klein Friesland were born. For several years now, we have been enjoying these high-quality South African wines with great pleasure and can't wait to share our enthusiasm.Product details
