Boats, a knot, and a Sicilian background all appear on the label of this white Canapi wine. This all reflects the connection between the ocean and Canapi. The word Canapi literally means knot, and it's depicted on the label as a sailor's knot. The wines are almost always exported by boat to as many as 30 different countries. But during the Pinto Grigio grape growing season, the ocean breeze is also crucial, cooling the bunches and preventing the grapes from ripening too quickly. A calm and even growing season produces a fuller-bodied white wine.

The vineyards have been growing in Sicily's rich soil for decades. This allows the roots to be deeply dug, allowing them to easily absorb moisture. This is crucial, as this region can get very hot in summer. The rich soil structure gives the Pinot Grigio great power and finesse, which we taste in this white wine. When the grapes are ripe, they are harvested under the guidance of top winemaker Stefano Choccioli. Stefano knows better than anyone when the ripeness is reached and makes the wines sparkle in the glass every year.

The aroma and taste of the Canapi Pinot Grigio

The Pinot Grigio grapes are carefully hand-harvested in mid-August, when they still have sufficient acidity and freshness. Canapi Pinot Grigio is straw yellow in color. The aroma offers an intense bouquet of tropical fruit and citrus. The palate is soft and supple, yet above all refreshing. This is a versatile wine, with nuances of apple, citrus peel, and a hint of gooseberry. The finish is refreshing, especially ripe and smooth.
