Vintage Report

For the 2022 vintage in Italy, the top regions scored 92 points, indicating an excellent year with early accessible wines. The wines are still youthful at the moment and have a fine tannin structure, but show beautiful potential.
A unique red wine made with four different grape varieties from various corners of Italy's boot. It's a powerful red wine, a blend of Primitivo, Sangiovese, Montepulciano, and Nero d'Avola. Each grape contributes its own unique touch to the final wine. An intense aroma leaps from the glass, and the first sip captivates with its fine tannin structure.

A special Italian blend

The Algricoltori del Chianti Geografico winery was founded in 1961 and was originally a cooperative. Today, it is owned by the Piccini family. Each vineyard is individually assessed by a geologist and a vineyard specialist. This is followed by a recommendation outlining which grape varieties would best mature on that plot. Then, with the owner's help, the vineyard is established. This is how high-quality wines are produced. Honest wines, but above all, pleasantly drinkable wines at a good price. The Pavonero is a unique wine made from a blend of two vintages. The grapes are sourced from various regions: Sicily, Puglia, Abruzzo, and Trentino. The blend consists of 40 percent Primitivo, 30 percent Sangiovese, 15 percent Montepulciano, and 15 percent Nero d'Avola. The grapes are vinified separately to maximize the potential of each grape. For example, the Primitivo grapes are partially dried before pressing, which imparts a soft flavor to the final wine. The wine is partially aged for 12 months in various types of oak.

What does the Geografico Pavonero Rosso taste like?

This is a dark red wine with a powerful character. The aromas are intense, with distinct notes of ripe cherries, plums, mocha, and tobacco. The palate is equally powerful, with a sultry and round mouthfeel. Thanks to the oak aging, the wine has developed a fine tannin structure that creates a beautiful balance between the ripe notes and the fruit. Try this wine with pasta, pork, or veal. Alternatively, enjoy it plain.
