The most famous grape from Italy is undoubtedly Primitivo. It's no wonder, then, that Caleo has created a wine from this grape. In fact, it's one of Caleo's best-selling wines. Caleo wines are a fantastic range of wines with excellent value for money from the Botter winery. Botter is a family business with its origins in 1928 and was founded by Calo Botter. The company is located just under 30 kilometers northeast of Venice. The winery collaborates with various producers throughout the country, allowing them to produce wines from every region of Italy. Approximately 98% of the wines produced are exported to as many as 40 countries. The annual total volume is almost 52 million bottles, making Botter not only one of the largest but also one of the most successful wineries in all of Italy. It's no wonder, then, that Caleo wines are also incredibly popular!

For the vineyards of Caleo Primitivo, we travel to Salento. Here, the perfectly maintained vineyards for this delicious red wine are located. The Primitivo grape, also known as Zinfandel in other countries, feels completely at home in Salento. The vines, with an average age of 20 years, produce full and rich bunches. Caleo's winemakers monitor this grape closely throughout the growing season. It's important that these grapes don't ripen too quickly, but that they receive sufficient sunshine. Pruning the vines is crucial, as is the influence of the sea. The wind from the sea cools the vineyards, allowing for smooth ripening. When the grapes finally reach the desired ripeness, they are harvested by hand. Only the finest bunches are selected for pressing. After vinification, this red Caleo wine is aged for several months in stainless steel vats for a beautiful finish.
