Vintage Report

The 2019 vintage for Barolo has been rated as exceptional, with an impressive score of 96 points. The wines from this year are currently still youthful and tannic, indicating that they can be cellared excellently to mature slowly.
Fenocchio's Barolo "Villero" is an intense and enveloping wine born from the Villero di Castiglione Falletto cru and aged for 30 months in barrel. The bouquet is broad and complex, and the palate is elegant, warm, and structured, supported by soft, ripe, elegant, and persistent tannins.

The high quality of Giacomo Fenecchio

The Fenocchio estate was founded in 1864. The 12-hectare estate has been passed down through more than five generations. Giacomo Fenocchio was responsible for adding vineyard land and focusing on exports, and today the estate is run by his sons (Claudio, Albino, and Alberto), with almost 80 percent of production exported. The Fenocchio family owns two of Barolo's most famous and prestigious vineyards, Cannubi and Bussia. Quality is always paramount, and therefore the entire vinification process is meticulously managed. Only the very best Nebbiolo grapes are selected for this Barolo Villero. The Villero vineyard is situated on a hillside approximately 300 meters above sea level. The 65-year-old vines thrive in the iron-rich clay and limestone soils. The grapes are harvested by hand in early October. A traditional method of long maceration with natural fermentation in stainless steel tanks lasts up to 40 days. The wine then matures for another 6 months in stainless steel tanks and 30 months in Slavonian oak barrels. After this, the Barolo Villero is bottled and rests in the bottle for a few more months.

The warm, intense flavors of Giacomo Fenocchio Barolo Villero

The color is deep garnet red with ruby reflections, with a bright and vibrant appearance. The nose is complex and rich with fruit, floral notes, herbs, undergrowth, and plums. It has an intense flavor with sweet tannins and a long finish. The Barolo Villero expresses itself with its characteristically stimulating aroma accompanied by a dry, yet warm and elegant palate that lingers long.
