The dream of two brothers

Cascina Ghercina Winery was taken over by Paolo and Guido Sartirano in 2002. The two brothers wanted to create a fine selection for wine lovers with a passion for high-quality, traditional Piedmont wines. And that's precisely how these wines are made: according to Piedmontese winemaking tradition. The brothers' values are: respect for the terroir, the constant quest for excellence, and authentic passion. They now combine these values with modern technology.

The old vineyard of Cascina Ghercina

The vineyards are located around Lake Chercina in the renowned Langhe wine region, which is also where the name comes from. This location is exceptionally suitable for vines. Thanks to the lake, a special microclimate is created that influences the surrounding vineyards. This gives the grapes very special characteristics, which they strive to preserve during vinification. This Riserva stands for quality, selection, dedication, and patience. Only the finest grapes are selected and vinified with the utmost knowledge and passion. Its elegance makes it the undisputed centerpiece of major events.

A lot of patience is needed for perfection with this red Barolo Riserva wine

The grapes are harvested by hand and then aged for at least 36 months in oak barrels. After aging, this Barolo Riserva undergoes a lengthy aging period of 24 months in the Cascina Ghercina cellars. No bottle leaves the cellar without being at its peak—well, it is! The aroma is rich with herbs, tobacco, ripe fruit notes, plums, lavender, and hints of vanilla and oak. The palate is complete and highly concentrated with nuances of black fruit, plums, and hints of licorice, tobacco, and cinnamon. Simply a classy wine, and you'll want to settle in and enjoy it.
