This white wine is the epitome of Austrian wines. It's an excellent showcase for the wines of this Alpine nation. Stift Klosterneuburg is one of the largest and most famous wineries, located in the Austrian capital, Vienna. By featuring Gruner Veltliner in this white wine, they've also given the national pride of Austrian wines a prime platform.

The wines of Stift Klosterneuburg

Klosterneuburg Abbey may well have the longest history. At least in Austria, but perhaps even in the entire world. The winery's founding dates back to the mid-Middle Ages. In 1114, Count Leopold III commissioned the construction of the monastery where the Augustinian Canons resided. Viticulture began right from the start. For centuries, they were a clear authority on Austrian wines. The world's very first viticultural school was also established at the monastery. This school is still internationally acclaimed for its research. So, with wines from Klosterneuburg Abbey, you can be sure you're in good hands. Klosterneuburg Abbey has over 100 hectares of vineyards spread across various regions. For the classic Gruner Veltliner, we chose the vineyards surrounding the monastery in the Austrian capital, Vienna. The terroir here is exceptionally well-suited to this delicate grape, a source of Austrian national pride. The sandstone combined with loess allows minerals to thrive in the dense clusters.

Impressions of Stift Kloster Neuburg Gruner Veltliner

Gruner Veltliner is synonymous with the incredible freshness of Austrian wines, and this Stift Kloster Neuburg Gruner Veltliner is no exception. The winemakers at Stift Klosterneuburg have given this Gruner Veltliner its full aroma, particularly by fermenting it in stainless steel. As a result, upon opening the wine, you immediately smell notes of Granny Smith and fresh lemons. The high acidity is well-suited to this style of wine. The slight peppery finish immediately reveals the spiciness a good glass of Gruner Veltliner can possess.
