Vintage Report
The 2022 vintage for white wines in Niederösterreich is considered excellent, with scores between 92 and 95 points. The wines are characterized by a youthful structure and great aging potential.
The Bernhard Ott winery, owned by the same name, is known as Mister Veltliner for a reason. For decades, they have dedicated themselves entirely to cultivating this grape variety, and with great success. Their wines are of unparalleled quality. This Stein Gruner Veltliner, for example, comes from the Stein vineyard, the only vineyard with a unique terroir of loess, chalk, and clay.
Innovation in wine growing at Bernhard Ott
Bernhard Ott is called Mister Veltliner for a reason. Since 1889, the Ott family has focused entirely on the Gruner Veltliner grape. At 21, his son, Bernhard Ott, took over and dedicated himself entirely to organic winegrowing. The company has 50 hectares of vineyards in the Wagram region. He quickly won awards and produces exceptionally pure wines year after year, which are highly sought after. He has invested heavily in recent years, completely renovating his wine cellar. Thanks to his innovative adjustments, the company continues to grow year after year, and with it, the quality of the wines. Stein is the name of the vineyard, located in the village of Engabrunn. Stein means "stone," and as the name suggests, the soil consists of loess, limestone, and clay. This makes it the only vineyard in the Kamptal Valley with this terroir. Moreover, the slightly cooler climate here gives the wines a pleasant structure. When the grapes are optimally ripe, they are carefully harvested by hand. In the winery, a strict selection process follows, followed by natural fermentation in stainless steel.Enjoy the powerful and fresh Ried Stein Gruner Veltliner
The Ried Stein Gruner Veltliner radiates a pale yellow color in the glass. The aroma reveals spicy aromas with characteristic notes of peach, pepper, pear, and a touch of mown grass. The palate boasts powerful tannins, ripe yet fresh with hints of melon and pear. The finish is long and powerful with distinct notes of spices such as pepper.Product details
