Vintage Report
The 2022 vintage in Argentina received an outstanding rating of 95 points. This indicates a year of exceptional quality with wines that still have significant aging potential.
The Ultra Chardonnay has good structure, with plenty of complexity and length. It beautifully reflects the potential of Mendoza. Kaiken Estate is uniquely positioned to capture the beautiful terroir in their quality wines.
Long-term wood aging for Kaiken Ultra Chardonnay
The Argentinian winery Kaiken was founded in 2002 by winemaker Aurelio Montes. They have three vineyards in Mendoza and one in Salta. These vineyards vary greatly in altitude and weather conditions, allowing Kaiken to cultivate a variety of grape varieties and produce fine, high-quality wines. The Altamira vineyard lies at an altitude of no less than 1200 meters above sea level. Here, the climate is characterized by very cold nights and warm days, where the cool nighttime tempers the high daytime temperatures. The soils consist of limestone, sand, and stone, resulting in fresh and fruity grapes with unique characteristics. At peak ripeness, the grapes are harvested entirely by hand and brought to the winery. Here, a rigorous selection process takes place, leaving only the very best grapes. This is followed by 21 days of alcoholic fermentation at a temperature of 16 degrees Celsius. Sixty-five percent of the wine is fermented in concrete tanks, while the remaining 35 percent is fermented in new barrels. The wine then rests for approximately 12 months, after which it is filtered and bottled. The wine then rests in the bottle for another two months before we can enjoy this Ultra Chardonnay.Enjoy the special taste experience of Ultra Chardonnay
But it's more than worth the wait. You're initially seduced by a golden-yellow Chardonnay in the glass. The aroma is intense and exceptionally aromatic. Plenty of white fruit emerges, such as banana and pineapple. These aromas are complemented by coconut and vanilla thanks to the oak aging. The palate is a creamy, lingering wine that also reveals soft fruit notes. The finish is smooth with a hint of toffee.Product details
