In sun-drenched Argentina, in the Cuyo region to be precise, we find the beautiful vineyards of Altos del Condor. The vines thrive in the fertile soil and the daytime warmth. The Chardonnay grapes have found their perfect home here. They ripen perfectly, resulting in an attractive and fruity wine.

The vineyards of Altos del Condor

Altos del Condor is a series of wines produced by Peñaflor. These are accessible wines inspired by the beauty of the Andes. Each wine in this series has a fruity and juicy style. The winery owns over 6,000 hectares of vineyards. Grupo Peñaflor is an Argentinian company founded in 1904 by a family of Italian immigrants with the goal of producing table wines and other non-alcoholic beverages. In the late 1990s, Grupo Peñaflor changed its focus and decided to specialize in fine wines. The grapes are planted in ancient, sandy, and highly permeable soils of volcanic origin. This, combined with the fresh breeze that blows through the vineyards at sunset, makes this region unique and perfectly suited to wine growing.

Manual harvest for Altos del Condor Chardonnay

The Chardonnay grapes come from various vineyards in the Cuyo region and are harvested entirely by hand at peak ripeness. The grapes are rigorously selected and destemmed in the winery. This is followed by cold stabilization. After pressing, the must is cooled and fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 16 degrees Celsius. This fermentation lasts approximately 16 days. Cool temperatures are deliberately chosen to ensure that all the fruit flavors are preserved. The Altos del Condor Chardonnay is a bright yellow in the glass. Its tropical aromas are immediately apparent, with apple as the dominant note. On the palate, this white wine is soft, round, and fruity. A wonderful summer wine, perfect for a barbecue.
