Vintage Report

2023 was een goed jaar voor de Elzas, gekenmerkt door gunstige weersomstandigheden die resulteerden in wijnen met een uitstekende rijpheid en behouden frisheid. De oogst leverde wijnen op met een goede balans en aromatische expressie.
This Deiss Zellenberg, sourced from the Graffenberg and Ritterpfad vineyards near picturesque Zellenberg, truly showcases the richness of the Alsatian soil. A careful blend of Riesling, Auxerrois, and various Pinot grapes, all interplanted, creates a deep connection with nature and a deep respect for biodiversity. The soil, composed of a mix of clay and fossil remains and rich in minerals, gives this wine intense aromas, a pure, fresh taste, and elegant finesse.

The quality of Marcel Deiss wines

Domaine Marcel Deiss is a leading winery in Alsace, with a rich history dating back to 1947. Jean-Michel Deiss, the current owner and winemaker, is known for his dedication to terroir philosophy. About 40 years ago, he made a bold decision to deviate from the prevailing practice of planting entire vineyards with a single grape variety. He believes this resulted in characterless wines and unhealthy vineyards. Instead, he believes it's essential to capture the unique diversity of Alsace, with all its diverse microclimates and soil types. This approach results in wines that reflect the true essence of the region, with unparalleled complexity and character.

What does Marcel Deiss Zellenberg taste like?

Marcel Deiss Zellenberg sparkles in the glass with a clear, golden yellow color that immediately invites you to explore its flavors. The complex aroma envelops you with fruity and floral notes. Here you'll find hints of juicy citrus, soft peach, ripe apricot, seductive exotic fruit, delicate flowers, and subtle spices, all interwoven with a touch of mineral freshness. On the palate, the wine reveals a beautiful harmony between refreshing vibrancy and full flavor. The vibrant acidity dances elegantly with the fruity notes, revealing citrus, stone fruit, exotic aromas, and spicy accents, supported by a refined minerality. The structure is subtle and elegant, with a long, refined finish that lingers in the mind.
