The 2022 vintage for white Burgundy, with a Robert Parker score of 96 points, is exceptionally high in quality. These wines are early maturing and already excellently approachable.

Maison Régnard, founded in 1840, is one of the oldest wineries in Chablis and one of the few that still has a cellar in the center of Chablis. Quality is paramount at this French winery. It was taken over in 1984 by Baron Patrick Ladoucette, who took charge of the winery and continued to maintain and improve the style and distinctive character of the wines. To this day, this winery continues to produce exceptionally fine wines.

The grapes for this Macon Lugny come from vineyards in the Mâconnais region, located in southern Burgundy. The district takes its name from the village of Mâcon, which was the center of a thriving wine trade in the 17th century. At that time, Mâconnais produced more red than white wine. Today, Mâconnais primarily produces white wine made from Chardonnay grapes and is best known as the home of Pouilly-Fuissé. This white variety originated in Burgundy but is now grown worldwide. Its flexibility to thrive in many regions translates into a broad flavor profile on the market. Chardonnay is often used in the production of Champagne and sparkling wines.

What does Regnard Macon Lugny taste like?

This Macon Lugny is made entirely from Chardonnay grapes. Depending on the location, the grapes are harvested either mechanically or by hand. After primary fermentation, the wine also undergoes malolactic or secondary fermentation, after which it is clarified. The wine can be aged for 2-3 years, but is also suitable for drinking young. From grape harvest to bottle, the winemaking process is closely monitored. This beautiful Macon Lugny from the Regnard winery has aromas of grapefruit, minerals, and white fruit. The palate is round and perfectly balanced, with hints of gooseberry, lime, and white fruit.
