Vintage Report
The 2022 vintage in Trentino-Alto Adige received 87 points from Robert Parker, indicating above-average to excellent quality. Furthermore, the wines from this vintage are already drinking well.
This red wine, made from the Lagrein grape, is a true South Tyrolean glass of wine. Truly, truly delightful, made by Tiefenbrunner from the Turmhof series. It's aged in oak, which makes it truly special. The grapes grow at altitudes between 230 and 350 meters on the south-facing slopes of the Entiklar and Kurtatsch mountains. This is where the Lagrein grape thrives, with warm temperatures and lovely dew in the evenings!
A winery with a South Tyrolean atmosphere
Tiefenbrunner Winery has dedicated itself to quality in all its wines, producing wines typical of the grape and the vineyard. Christophe Tiefenbrunner began in 1991 and has significantly modernized the vineyards and perfected the winemaking process. It is a winery with a friendly atmosphere, the well-known South Tyrolean atmosphere, in other words. This beautiful winery also remains a wonderful place for tourists to relax and enjoy an exceptional wine. Tiefenbrunner offers a wide selection, so there's a suitable wine for every wine drinker. Grape arbors are typical of this region. The downside is that not all the grapes receive the right amount of sun. Therefore, Christophe decided to largely remove these and replace them with more regular vines. He also scaled back production slightly to elevate the quality of the wines. Tiefenbrunner owns twenty hectares of vineyards and also purchases grapes from other producers. These are primarily used to produce white wines, with only a few reds. Many wine lovers have fallen in love with Tiefenbrunner's subtle wines. The vinification of Tiefenbrunner Turmhof Lagrein
Lagrein is the quintessential blue grape of this region. Many producers cultivate large quantities of Lagrein in their vineyards, but at Tiefenbrunner, it occupies a minor position. It is particularly popular because it produces fruity, quick-drinking wines. Tiefenbrunner's Lagrein is more powerful and robust than most of its counterparts. After maceration in stainless steel tanks, biological acid decomposition takes place and the grapes are aged for eight months in large and small wooden barrels. The aroma reveals ripe black fruit and abundant spices like bay leaf, making it a full-bodied, powerful wine. This continues in the taste of this Tiefenbrunner Lagrein Turmhof, with lovely bitterness and acidity combined with rich fruit flavors for a superb overall result. Subtle nuances of licorice, cinnamon, and vanilla round it all off to perfection!Product details
