Weingut Hagn Grüner Veltliner Weinviertel 2023
A Grüner Veltliner through and through, flawless and crystal clear. You'll taste ripe orange and crisp pear with that recognizable peppery note, elegantly supported by fine acidity. From the village of Mailberg, where the Hagn family has worked for generations in the Pulkautal valley, with vineyards on iron sandstone and sandy loam for freshness and spice.
Vineyards and region
The grapes come from Austria's Weinviertel region, located in the northwest around Mailberg in the Pulkautal valley. Iron sandstone retains heat for good ripening, the sandy loam is fertile and moisture-retaining, and the slope provides natural drainage. The surrounding forest contributes to a favorable microclimate, which enhances the tension and purity in the glass.
Vinification and maturation
The house focuses on a fresh, precise style that centers on the grape character. What's that "peppery" in Grüner Veltliner? It's the grape's characteristic, spicy spiciness, which adds liveliness and extra definition to the finish.
