The ideal conditions for Lomond wines
Lomond Winery was established in 2004 in the Uilkraal River Valley near Cape Agulhas. Situated at the southernmost tip of Africa, 8 kilometers from the sea, the wines benefit from the cool southwest and southeast winds during the summer months. Due to the cool temperatures, the harvest takes place a few weeks later than in the Stellenbosch region. The winery is a member of both the Walker Bay Fynbos Conservancy and the Biodiversity and Wine Initiative (BWI), which reward wine producers for sustainable viticulture. The Cape Agulhas wine region is the southernmost wine region in Africa. Its extreme southerly location, proximity to the sea, and diverse soils with unique terroirs contribute to the production of highly distinctive, single-site wines that clearly express their origins. The vineyards are located in Cape Agulhas, a rising star among South African wine regions. In the far south, south of Cape Town, west of Walker Bay, where the Indian and Atlantic Oceans meet, the grapes for Lomond wines grow. In this national park with its immense biodiversity, the vines benefit from diverse soils, resulting in wines with unique aromas derived from the terroirs. Thanks to the cool winds from the sea, the grapes enjoy a long growing season, allowing their aromas, acidity, and sugars to gradually develop. Harvesting takes place by hand in early March.Enjoy a full-bodied, fresh wine from Lomond
