The 2022 vintage in Rioja is considered excellent with a score of 95. The wines are currently still powerful and youthful with a clear tannic structure.

Spanish winemaker Telmo Rodrigez travels throughout the country to craft the finest wines. His base is Rioja, where he always strives to create wines where the fruit takes center stage, not oaky notes or heavier aromas. This wine is made from the Tempranillo grape with a touch of Graciano and Garnacha. It's often called an everyday wine thanks to its character: accessible, well-structured, and delicious fruity notes.

A rich Rioja wine

Telmo Rodriguez's thirty-year history clearly demonstrates this winemaker's love of adventure. Thanks to various travels, the winery has grown and steadily improved in quality. This has allowed them to discover diverse landscapes, grape varieties, and terroirs. For example, the Rioja Alavesa is a region where the soil consists of both clay and limestone. This creates a unique quality, beautifully reflected in the final wine. The wines are all versatile and all made from indigenous grape varieties. The grapes are carefully and entirely harvested by hand, after which they are destemmed almost immediately in the winery. They then undergo cold maceration. The Rodriquez Corriente ferments in stainless steel and concrete tanks at a controlled temperature. Finally, the wine ages for several months in large wooden barrels of varying ages.

A fruity Spanish Corriente

The Corriente emerges in the glass with a beautiful purple-red color. The aroma is fruity, with distinct notes of blackcurrant and blackberry. This is subtly complemented by vanilla and a hint of spice thanks to the oak aging. The palate is well-concentrated with a soft attack. Mild tannins are balanced by mild acidity. Pleasant and approachable with a fine, long finish.
