Vintage Report
The 2020 vintage in Galicia received an excellent rating of 94 points. The wines from this year are described as early-maturing and are currently very approachable for consumption.
On the slopes of the Bibei River, which flows through Santa Cruz, Telmo has restored its old vineyards and decided to produce an authentic village wine. The region is located in northern Spain, and the vineyards are nestled in the heart of the village. For this blend, the winemaker selected four different local grape varieties: Godello, Loureiro, Dona Blanca, and Palomino. They complement each other beautifully, without being inferior to each other.
The young winemaker Telmo Rodriguez
Telmo Rodriguez is certainly one of the youngest winemakers in the Spanish wine industry. He studied in Bordeaux and later in the Rhône, where he learned many tricks of the trade. He was a winemaker at his father's estate, but he left around 1994 to embark on his own wine journey. He considers himself a driving winemaker. He lives in Madrid but travels throughout Spain, making wine in various regions. In a very short time, he has put not only himself but also his wines on the map. Beautiful, high-quality wines made from local grapes and local varieties. At an altitude of 400 to 600 meters, the grapes are harvested entirely by hand. In the winery, a strict selection process follows, using only the very best grapes. Fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature using indigenous yeasts. Finally, the grapes are aged for 10 months in old barrels and foudres. The surprising Branco de Sta Cruz
A surprising white wine with a beautiful bouquet of white flowers, herbs, dried fruit, and a slightly sweet honey. The palate is round, full, and above all, deliciously creamy. Fruity notes also emerge, complemented by almonds. The overall taste is beautifully fresh and continues into a very long finish, immediately tempting you into the next sip. A powerful Branco de Sta Cruz, which, thanks to the knowledge and skill of Telmo Rodriguez, has also retained its freshness.Product details
