Vintage Report

The hot summers in the extreme continental climate gave the grapes a lot of power and even growth. This results in a rosé with great finesse, freshness, and purity.

Mirada Bobal Rosé Orgánico 2024 Vino de la Tierra de Castilla, Spain

Mirada Bobal Rosé Orgánico 2024 is an organic and vegan rosé for relaxed moments when you seek freshness, suppleness, and a clean mineral line. The wine comes from high-altitude plots on the Spanish plateau and is made entirely in stainless steel, keeping it light, pure, and direct in style. Here, everything revolves around Bobal. What is Bobal? It's a Spanish red grape that is well-resistant to difficult climate conditions and can produce both powerful red wines and fresh rosé.

Vineyards and Region

The origin of this rosé is strictly and functionally structured around altitude, drought, and continental influence.

  • Location / Origin: This wine falls under Vino de la Tierra de Castilla and comes from vineyards on the Spanish plateau. This places it within a broad Castilian origin, but with a clear profile of high-altitude inland.
  • Altitude: The plots are located at 600–800 m altitude. In this southern context, this is important because this altitude helps to preserve freshness and tension in the wine.
  • Climate & Influences: The climate is extremely continental with long, hot summers. This ensures sufficient ripeness, while the altitude helps keep the wine lively.
  • Vineyard: The vines are on average 15 years old, planted as bush vines and pruned short. With a yield of 40 hl/ha, the style remains precise and neatly concentrated.

Vinification and Aging

The cellar approach is entirely focused on fruit purity, freshness, and a smooth texture.

  • Harvest & Selection: The grapes are harvested early in the morning. This helps to retain freshness and primary aromas as much as possible.
  • Fermentation: Fermentation lasts 20 days at 14–16 °C. This cool, controlled approach keeps strawberry, citrus, and floral notes beautifully clear.
  • Aging / Oak Maturation: The wine is aged in stainless steel. This keeps the style clean, crisp, and entirely focused on fruit and minerality.
  • Alcohol Percentage: At 13% alcohol, this rosé remains round and smooth enough for the table, without losing its fresh line.

Grape Composition

This rosé is entirely built on one grape, which is precisely what gives it its unique signature.

  • 100% Bobal – Castilla: Bobal forms the complete base here, giving the wine its pale color, fresh strawberry notes, lively acidity, and slight mineral tension.

Tasting Notes and Serving Suggestions

Pale pink in the glass, with an open nose of fresh strawberry, citrus, and rose petals. On the palate, it is smooth and fresh, with a neat round attack and a lively acidity that beautifully lifts the fruit. The finish remains clean, mineral, and pleasantly drinkable.

  • Serving Temperature: 8–10 °C works best here, as this range keeps the red fruit fresh and allows the mineral tension to come through clearly.
  • Dishes: Shellfish, light salads, grilled fish, and a sunny aperitif moment are a natural fit here, as this rosé remains fresh, smooth, and refined.

Accolades

  • Gold, Premios Baco (2024, 2023): This rosé was awarded gold in 2 consecutive vintages. For the 2024 edition, the silky smooth and balanced character of the wine was particularly highlighted.
  • Gold, Concours Mondial de Bruxelles (2024, 2023): A gold medal at this international competition underlines that Mirada also holds its own strongly outside Spain.
  • 90 points, Guía Peñín (2023): A nice confirmation that this wine also rises above the everyday level in terms of substance.
  • Grand Gold, Premios Bacchus (2022): An exceptionally strong distinction within a major international competition.
  • Best Rosé, Vinofed-Bacchus (2022): This title shows that Mirada even emerged as the best rosé from the competition in that vintage.
