What a beautiful wine from Martin Codax, this so-called Single Vineyard called "Lias"! This white wine is also made from the Albariño grape and comes from the Pé Redondo vineyard located in the Salnes River Valley. The valley has a unique climate with warm afternoons and slightly cooler nights, which allows the Albariño grape to ripen peacefully and in perfect balance. At ideal ripeness, the Albariño grapes are harvested and hand-picked with great care. The juice is truly of unparalleled quality and considerably fuller than its smaller sibling.

This Albariño Lias matured on the Lie

After harvest, this white wine is aged for a full ten months on the lees, that is, on its dead yeast cells. This technique requires a lot of extra work for the winemaker but gives this wine an exceptionally beautiful flavor. The Albariño grape is ideally suited to aging on the lees and therefore lends a truly rich aroma and flavor to this white Martin Codax.

The smell and taste of the Martin Codax Lias

This Lias Albariño is a wood-aged white wine from Martin Codax, with truly refined and ripe flavors. On the nose, we discovered aromas of ripe fruit such as peach, apple, and pear, with a hint of minerality. The palate is mild, powerful, and rich. Beautiful ripe flavors of white and abundant yellow fruit, with a hint of caramel and honey, yet the finish of this Martin Codax Albariño Lias remains fresh and lively. This wine also pairs well with a wide variety of dishes, such as various chicken dishes, delicious grilled fish, guinea fowl, and, of course, a delicious plate of pasta. This Martin Codax Albariño Lias can also certainly continue to age in the bottle for several years; it will quickly become fuller and creamier.
