A long and balanced growing season with many hours of sunshine and cooling winds. Sharply falling night temperatures ensured a perfectly healthy harvest.

The name "El Convertido" literally means "the converter," because this new Tempranillo red wine is made entirely organically in the La Mancha wine region. This is quite unique for this region. La Mancha was initially seen as an inexpensive region where quality wasn't a priority. Well, that's changed today, with this red Tempranillo, full-bodied and smooth, boasting very pleasant flavors. This red wine is made by none other than De Haan Altés, a true family winery that has been producing some of Spain's finest wines for years.

The old Tempranillo vineyard of El Convertido

The El Convertido Tempranillo vineyard is truly perfectly situated. At an altitude of seven hundred meters, the now-old vines thrive in a superb climate. Plenty of strong sunshine combined with a refreshing breeze gives the harvest a long and balanced growing season. The sharp drop in nighttime temperatures ensures that no bacteria have a chance to survive. This allows for the production of a completely organic red wine from the Tempranillo grape. The rich soil structure also significantly influences the grapes, a fact that is clearly reflected in the flavor of this El Convertido red wine.

What does El Convertido Tempranillo taste like?

As soon as the bottle is opened, we smell a vibrant and powerful aroma of strawberries, berries, and cherries. We take a large glass to sharpen all our senses. Initially, we notice a ruby red color with purple glints. With our noses over the glass, we noted nuances of small red fruit, a touch of plum, light spice, and a touch of fresh blackberry. On the palate, this red El Convertido Tempranillo warms the palate, with rich tannins and plenty of red and black fruit. A touch of spice on the back of the tongue adds excitement, and the finish is long and ripe.
