Burmester Ruby Port, one of our favorite Ruby Ports. The grapes for this port grow on hills at an altitude of 600 meters, allowing them to experience plenty of sunshine and cool nights. Due to the altitude, all grapes are hand-harvested at precisely the right time. The grapes are planted in granite-covered soil, which gives the grapes their unique character. This Burmester Ruby Port is made from wines from different vintages, allowing for consistent quality year after year. Some of these wines have even been aged in oak barrels at least three years old, allowing for subtle oak notes in the port wine.

What does Burmester Ruby Port taste like?

All this results in a pleasant young port from Burmester, boasting a beautiful, intense ruby red color. The aroma is typical of a Ruby Port, with lovely hints of blackcurrant and plum, complemented by a touch of cinnamon, candy, and plum. The palate is full-bodied and light, characteristic of a Ruby Port. Beautiful aromas of red fruit, sweet cherries, currants, and abundant raspberries. Burmester suggests serving the port chilled, or even over ice for those who prefer it. It took some thought, but we're ultimately very happy with it.
