The year 2021 in Chile was of excellent quality with a score of 93 points on the Robert Parker scale. The wines from this vintage are described as outstanding and possess a vibrant and youthful character.
Sauvignon Blanc is grown in Casablanca, Chile's first cool-climate region. The vineyards cover 314 hectares and are all located near the ocean. This creates a blanket of morning mist over the vineyards and cool breezes during the day. This allows the grapes to retain their delicate aromas and crisp acidity, so important in producing aromatic Sauvignon Blanc.
Award-winning winery Santa Rita
Santa Rita is one of Chile's premier wineries. Housed in a historic building, the winery was founded in 1880 in Chile's Maipo Valley. They offer a wide variety of wines. Their production ranges from mid-level Medalla Real to their flagship lines, including the excellent Floresta line and the seductive Casa Real Cabernet, expertly crafted by Chilean winemaker Sebastián Labbé and his team, using grapes sourced throughout Chile. The Medella Real line was established in 1983 to honor the ancestor of Vina Santa Rita's family. Year after year, this winery wins numerous awards for its quality wines. The Sauvignon Blanc grapes are carefully harvested. In the winery, 20 percent of the grapes undergo 18 hours of cold maceration. The remainder is pressed immediately.
