Vintage Report

The year 2021 in Chile was excellent with a score of 93 points. The wines are described as still youthful and slow-maturing.
This wine is the result of a collaboration between two winemakers: Julio Bouchon from Chile and Davig Nieuwoudt from South Africa. Longavi means "snake's head" and combines two worlds in their wines. The label depicts a vine wreath, which refers to an ancient African symbol representing the eternal cycle and renewal of nature. This wine symbolizes freedom and combines perfection from Chile and South Africa in this bottle of wine.

A wine project from two continents

Friends Julio and David decided to join forces in 2012. Julio is a French wine pioneer who moved to Chile in 1887, where he developed his passion for wine. David owns one of South Africa's most prestigious wineries, Cederberg. Together, they strive to produce wines with freshness, personality, and diversity. They combine grapes and terroir that beautifully express each vineyard. The vineyards for this Chenin Blanc are located in the Maule Valley south of Santiago. Here, the grapes enjoy a beautiful climate, resulting in perfectly ripe grapes. The grapes are harvested by hand early in the morning. Some of the grapes are naturally fermented on their skins in clay pots known as amphora. The wine remains on the skins in the amphora for a month. The remaining grapes are fermented as clean juice in stainless steel tanks and later blended with amphora wine. Finally, the wine remains on the lees for another four months.

The smell and taste of Longavi Glup Chenin Blanc

A uniquely characterful Chenin Blanc. The aroma reveals distinct yellow apple, marmalade, and marzipan, complemented by notes of honey. The fruity flavors are clearly evident on the palate, with citrus aromas. The wine has a pleasantly fresh finish. A delicious wine to pair with white meat and vegetable dishes.
